MEPL is implementing a 900 MW Coastal Thermal Power Project (Coal Fired) in the first phase in Thammenapatnam Village, near Krishnapatnam Port, Nellore Dist. Andhra Pradesh and a similar capacity in second phase. The ultimate capacity of the Project is 900 MW.
STATUS
1) Land Allotment:
- Govt. of AP is kind enough to allot about 535 Acres of land in
Thammenapatnam village, near Krishnapatnam Port, Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh.
- Possession of land is taken over by the company on 12-11-2007.
2) Site Development:
- Site leveling near the creek is completed
- Fencing and other Pre-Construction works are in progress.
- Topo studies are complete and Topo and Contour maps are made ready..
- Geo Technical Investigations/Tests are completed. Reports are also received.
3) Environmental Clearance:
- APPCB conducted Public Hearing on 12-02-2008.
- Presentation made before MoEF on 14-05-2008 for issue of Environmental Clearance. MoEF is kind enough to consider the proposal and accorded Environmental Clearance for the Project.
4) Clearances & NOCs:
i) Sarpanch, Thammenapatnam village issued No Objection Certificate for establishing Coal Fired Coastal
Thermal Power Project in the village.
ii) M/s. Airports Authority of India issued No Objection Certificate for construction of Chimney vide letter no.
AAI/ 20012/910/2007-ARI(NOC)dated 8th January 2008.
iii) Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd. communicated “In Principle Acceptance for rendering Port Services to the Project. Draft Port Services Agreement with M/s. KPCL for handling of coal required for the Project is under scrutiny.
iv) District Collector, Nellore confirmed that there is no forest land in the project site.
v) District Collector, Nellore accorded permission for drawl and utilization of 37cusecs of sea water from Kandaleru creek for the project vide Lr. No.RC/D3/6228/07, dated 24-12-2007.
vi) CEA was intimated about setting up of the 900 MWs Power Project and sought for their co-operation for smooth and timely execution of the project and successful operation of the plant.
vii) M/s. Power Grid Corporation of India was addressed for providing evacuation facilities under open access. The 400 KV Switching Station at Khagitalpur, Monubolu (Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh) of PGCIL is at a distance of 26 Kms from the project site. M/s. PGCIL has taken up the System Studies.
viii) Southern Power Distribution Corporation Limited of A P has approved and sanctioned the estimates for extending supply at 11 KV to facilitate Construction activity in the Project.
ix) Financial Closure expected to be completed by August, 2008.
x) EPC contract is expected to be finalized by August, 2008.
xi) Negotiations are under final stage for supply of coal.
